“X” Chair on display at Opera Gallery NY

We are pleased to announce that our “X” chair design is also now on display at Opera Gallery in the main design district of New York.

Inspiration:

The “X” Chair, as the name implies is an interpretive form derived from the letter “X” if it were to loop and complete itself. The objective was to design a chair that is playful, whimsical, and with a personality —- seemingly realized from the realm of the imaginary world. It had to be suggestive, inviting, and informal — where a person, approaching the chair, would feel comfortable to drop their “guards”, relax into the chair and slip into her or her own dream world — away from the daily “grind”.

“There are moments when we wish to be lost in our happy place, to be a child again … uninhibited, imaginative, wonderful. It is often a beloved object that transports us there – a blanket, a sweater, —- a chair”.

To be consistent with the theme, the chair had to be “light” and yet have structurally integrity. Carbon fibre was a logical choice. The chair can be finished in naked carbon fibre with a clear coat, or it can be upholstered in leather or fabric.

Materials:

Carbon fiber and epoxy
