The X Chair
The X chair was designed to be a portal to a private place – to escape into a dream space.
If you bend the E-Qis logo and bring the two ends together, it becomes the chair. The lines are simple, clean and defined. The piece occupies minimal visual space and yet has a powerful presence.
Though it looks delicate in appearance, it is designed to fit the body comfortably and easily carry a person’s weight. A degree of ‘bounciness” is deliberately designed into the chair to give it a rocking feature.
The first chair was presented with a naked carbon fibre finish with a aircraft grade clear coat on the outside and an automotive grade paint on the inside. However any colour can be applied to the design or upholstered in various materials. We are currently experimenting with leather.
A feeling of relaxation takes over when you sit in it. The chair holds you comfortably – the way you sit allows you to relax yet maintains your form. It is perfect to recover and recoup from all the happenings of your daily life.
The chair was recently sold at Opera Gallery in NY. We will keep you updated on other exhibition spaces where the chair will be on view and will invite you to come and relax in it.
